One night together changes everything... A childhood crush turns into more and Destiny has no choice but to grow up sooner than she planned. Will life’s unexpected detours derail her forever? Is there a happily ever after in the cards for Destiny and Troy? Only time will tell.

 Excerpt

I wake up the next morning as Troy is brushing my neck with sweet kisses.
“Good morning, beautiful girl”
I smile at him and say, “Morning, sexy.”
He leans over and gives me a firm kiss on the lips.
“What time is it?” I ask.
He turns to his alarm clock. “Eleven in the morning”
I groan and bury myself deeper into his side. “I want more sleep”
He chuckles because he knows how much I hate getting up. Thankfully, even with all the drinking I did last night, I am not hung over. I just feel tired. Troy and I have had very little sleep with all sex we’ve been having. I turn my head my when I realize I hear noises downstairs.
“Who is making all that noise down there?” I ask.
“I don’t know, but I think we have a houseful of guests. Everyone must have crashed here last night.”
“Great. I have to get out of your room without anyone realizing I spent the night in here.
“Destiny, are you embarrassed?”
“No, I just don’t want to shock my brother with the news just yet.”
Troy laughs. “I think it’s going to surprise him no matter how we tell him, Sweetie. I don’t think he is going to flip out on us or anything like that, but it’s still going to shock him”
“I know. I’m still in shock myself. I love to hate you; we have been fighting for as long as I can remember. I am not supposed to be your girlfriend,” I say with a huge grin on my face.
He rolls his eyes at me. “Whatever.”
I begin looking around the room for my underwear. I finally find them and slip them on. He throws a T-shirt at me. His shirt comes down far enough to cover everything I need it to. He puts on his boxers and a pair of jeans that are slung low on his hips and show off his perfect abs.
He pulls me to him, kisses me, and says, “Let’s just go down together and see what happens.”
I agree. It really is silly to be freaking out over this. We are all adults, right?
I start out of the room first, but stop short when someone appears in front me. Troy runs into my back. He puts an arm around my waist to steady me as we come face to face with David.
“Shit,” Troy whispers behind me. Oh, this is not good.

Review

****The author provided me with a copy of this book for my honest review****
I am not going to recap this book because I believe the blurb above does a very thorough job. Baggage Check is a very aptly named book, cause oh boy does Rebecca Williamson have some baggage. Stuck in a rut, in love with her friend's husband, disconnected from her friends, lonely, uptight......there wasn't much going for this lady in the beginning.
In fact, I did struggle with her defense mechanism rudeness throughout the story ( I was getting all twitchy, which I do in real life when someone is being rude).
Now I understand family obligation, buried resentment and hurt, disconnected family, but still she made me mad.
This book was a bit slow to me; there were certain parts where I was pushing myself to finish it, well except the scenes with Will, hehe. Unfortunately, the romance between these two sort of seemed like a side story to all of Rebecca's problems and that was an issue for me. I do like my romance to be the main theme.
In saying all this after pushing through, I did get invested in Rebecca's story. Someone so unhappy and clueless surely deserves some happiness dammit!! In the end, I was happy with the character development and growth and of course the outcome.
This was a solid 3 star book for me, a little bit more romance and action would have knocked it up a star.

Always and Forever

Links: Goodreads Amazon

Twin sisters Ava and Hannah were ripped from their peaceful seeming lives into a whirlwind of attacks and war only to learn the real truth about their existence. Nothing was as it seemed anymore and may never be again. They had already lost their father in childhood now they have to cope with their mother’s kidnapping as they watch those sworn to protect them risk their lives.

Excerpt
I stood motionless watching her as she lay peacefully, giggling quietly to herself as she dreamed. I noticed for the first time the delicate dimples she had when she smiled. The sun was beginning to set and the air had more of a chill than when we got here. The time had melted away.
My thoughts were quickly interrupted by a loud growling sound. It went from sounding human to a deep, foul terrifying rumble of excitement. I knew instantly that was our enemy. I wondered what form they had taken to capture Ava. The Sabatinos rarely did anything in their human form. They thrived on the fear they instilled in their victims by changing forms.
Ava sat up quickly, ripping her earphones off and threw them an inch from where I was hiding. Her eyes were full of fear.
Suddenly an enormous creature emerged from the clearing charging straight to Ava. My heart raced as I quickly ran from the opposite side of the clearing as fast as I could to get there before the creature had. Although I could run much faster than a mortal, so could this creature if it were truly a member of the Sabatino coven. This was going to make for a much more difficult fight.
The creature was closing in on Ava quickly with evil red eyes fixated on its prey. I wasn’t sure if I could make it in time. Overwhelming fear shot through my entire body. I wasn’t just failing Connor, I was failing our coven.
Ava stood frozen. I started to yell for her to run when she suddenly lifted her shaking arms and yelled at the creature. Right then the creature was frozen in midair and Ava fell to the ground unconscious.

You Can Call Me Miranda

You Can Call Me Miranda
3 of 5 stars false
I was born to dance. I may have even become the best ballerina this country has ever seen. But when you have no one to guide you as a young person, you become very lost. I craved love and attention, and I found it in men.
I’ve always had a certain allure that draws men to me. I worked that out at a very young age. At first it was fun teasing them, then a thrill … then it was just easy. Men were just too easy.
I loved the way they looked at me when I danced for them, the way they stared at my body. I danced for men who paid to watch. Then he found me. I was the next desperate girl, ripe for the picking. If only I knew what I was being picked for.
This is my story. This is how I lost the girl I once was. Now, you can call me Miranda.

Review

***The author provided me with an ARC of this novella for my honest review***
Mia is on her way to the top. She has gained the attention of all the right people and won the lead role in her schools next production of Giselle.
A rare night out to let her hair down leads to disaster in the form of an accident that takes away her dream.
This is a prequel to Buying Thyme, a book that I read and reviewed recently. It is a short introduction to the main character "Miranda" and gives us an explanation of how she ended up being a prostitute. I really liked it; the previous book was a real winner for me and a lot of the questions I had were answered.
I felt sorry for Mia/Miranda at how a series of events robbed her of her future. I did, however, feel like she just accepted things to quickly and was very naive. I was very excited about seeing who her very first "customer" was as he was someone that held my fascination in the first book.
All in all, I think this author has a knack for writing an interesting story, something different from the norm. I am looking forward to seeing more from TJ Hamilton in the future.

Into the Darkness

Title: Into the Darkness
Author: K.F. Breene
Genre: New Adult Fantasy/Paranormal Romance
Publication: January 23, 2014

I’d always been different. I saw objects in the night where others saw emptiness. Large, human shaped shadows, fierce yet beautiful, melting into the darkness. I collected secrets like other women collected bells; afraid to fully trust lest my oddities be exposed.

Until I saw him. He’d been gliding down the street, unshakable confidence in every step. It wasn’t just that he was breathtakingly handsome with perfect features. Something about him drew me. Sucked my focus to him and then tugged at my body. As his eyes met mine, I was entrapped.

No one had noticed him. He’d been right there, just beyond the light, but only I had perceived.

I had to know if he was real. Or maybe I really was crazy. And even when my secret box was blasted wide open, dangers hurled at me like throwing knives, I couldn’t stop until I unraveled his true identity.

I just had to know.

“She was fated to live.”
“Then why must you save her?”
“Often Fate is struck down by dumb luck.”

Into the Darkness is currently FREE on Amazon, along with these other books by K.F. Breene!

As I met his black eyes, his puzzled expression deepened. “You’re human…”
“We established that, yes. What I want to know is, if I am human, what does that make you? And why do I notice you when others usually don’t?”
His head cocked to the side. His easy balance, his lethal edge; he was like a blade resting on billowing silk. “Very few humans are able to withstand our pheromones. Fewer still to break a Kolma once it has been placed. You’ve not been trained, that’s obvious; so how is this possible when you’re definitely human? Do you possess the blood of another species?”
I could barely think past the pounding ache of my body, begging to touch him. I needed to get a grip! He was revealing some very interesting factoids I needed to jot down in my mental notebook.
His nostrils flared. “Charles was right; your arousal is a unique scent. Like a spicy, warm drink on a mid-winter’s night. It rises above other smells, entrancing the mind.”
“Umm,” charged with questions, determination, anger, and demands, I thrust forward, “Listen, what did you mean about withstanding the…pher-thing? Or breaking the other thing? How can you trap someone’s head with pleasure? Because I’m pretty sure—not positive, but pretty sure—that Jared is straight. And also, I really think we should circle back to what the hell you are, and why nobody knows that you exist? Because this whole people scattering thing is not normal, and I think an explanation is probably in order.”
He stepped closer, not hearing me, or not caring that I spoke. His eyes looked at me like I was a life-sized riddle. They delved, searching. He took another step, forcing me to retreat two steps to keep distance between our bodies. Another step back had my back to the wall.
A small smile curved his lips. “I exude pleasure, you run. I exude fear, you come calling. You want me, I can smell it. I can feel it, almost like a palpable thing. Give in to it. Yield to me.”
Oh God I wanted to. His body was mere inches from mine, his intense eyes looking down into my soul from a face out of a Renaissance painting. The power of him, the sheer strength, had strange, primal fantasies running amok through my head. My core tingled, my chest surged, and my nipples were so hard they could cut this stone wall.
Why had I come here, again?

A wine country native, K.F. Breene moved to San Francisco for college just shy of a decade ago to pursue a lifelong interest in film. As she settled into the vibrant city, it quickly became apparent that, while she thought making and editing films was great fun, she lacked cinematic genius. For that reason, her career path quickly changed direction. Her next goal was a strange childhood interest, conjured at the dining room table while filling out a form. For some reason, her young self wanted to be an accountant. Thinking on it now, she often wonders how she had any friends. Regardless, it was the direction she finally took.

While she could wrangle numbers with the best of 'em, and even though she wore the crown as the most outspoken, belligerent accountant in the world, her mind got as stuffy as her daily routine. It was here that she dusted off her creative hat and began writing. Now she makes movies in her head, not worried about lighting, shutter speed or editing equipment. Turns out, a computer is much easier to manage than a crowd of actors. She should know, she was an actor at one time.

Interview
1. When you started the Harbor Falls Mystery Trilogy did you already have an idea of how it would end or did it come about later as you wrote the books?
Not at all. lol

Harbour Falls was originally to be a stand-alone, and the first epilogue (which I never finished) was to have been a HEA wrap-up for Maddy and Adam.

But I found I could never write that particular epilogue, and it was then that I knew there was much more suspense ahead for our two lovebirds. That was when and how Willow Point came to be.

I did have an outline of where I wanted to go with Maddy and Adam from that point on (no pun intended—hehe).

Wickingham Way, the third novel, was the most fun to write since the focus is on Maddy and Adam’s relationship. There’s still some intrigue, but this one is far more romance-oriented…and far steamier. *wink*

2. When you get stuck in your writing, what is the best way for you to get past it?

Ugh, I hate when that happens.

I usually take a short break from whatever story I’m stuck on. I may work on a different book or listen to music. Sometimes reading helps. I sometimes find other writer’s creativity may get my own going again.

3. Are there any books that you like to read on rainy days or when you're feeling down? Comfort books so to speak, ones that you go back to time and time again?

I can always read White Oleander by Janet Fitch. I love her style of writing.

4. You are a big Pittsburgh fan, does Adam Ward have something to do with one of the players?

He sure does. Not his first name, I just liked the name Adam. But his last name I borrowed from a former Pittsburgh Steeler, Hines Ward.

5. Is there any significance or symbolism in the names you have chosen for your characters?

Oh, I love this question and no one ever asks it, so thank you!

For first names, I usually pick names I like for the main characters (see question above). But for secondary characters, I try out a few and see what feels right.

The last names are more fun. I mainly like to use street names and names of different parts of Pittsburgh, where I live.

For example, in I Stand Before You, Kay’s last name is Stanton. There’s a part of Pittsburgh called Stanton Heights. And Father Maridale, his name is a street a few miles away.

6. What is your favorite comfort food/s?

Chocolate!!!!!

Wish For You

 3 of 5 stars false1/2
From New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author, Marquita Valentine, comes the 4th book in her new adult series, BOYS OF THE SOUTH.
There's only one place in the world Lacey Evans feels normal- the roller derby track. When she laces up her skates and fastens her helmet, she's powerful and in charge. She knows exactly what to do and what to say. The rules are clear and penalties are enforced for those who don't follow them. But in the read world, she's far from powerful and in charge. She never knows exactly what to do and say. For years, she counted on one person to be exactly who he said he was--her best friend, Wyatt Tanaka. Only she changed the rules on him, without any warning, and now she's the one being punished.
Marine veteran, Wyatt Tanaka, came home to a heroes welcome. But he's hiding a secret, one that could potential destroy his life. He's doing the best he can, trying to cope with the guilt and the pain of the girl he loves pushing him away by doing all the things he'd sworn not too. Women, bars, drugs and drinking are what consume him. With Lacey's new rules, he has nothing to hold on to. Nothing to keep in from feeling dead.
Then one night, he goes too far, gets in too deep, and when the truth comes out... will Lacey keep pushing him away or help save him?

Review

****I was given an ARC of this book for my honest review****
Lacey has had panic attacks since she was a little girl, doctors brushed it off saying she would grow out of it, she has built a structured life for herself with a routine and rules. Her life has to change when her parents leave to go on a mission to Turkey; she has to find a new place to live and create a new routine. Her best friend Wyatt has always been there for her, she loves him but she has her reasons why they can't be together. Wyatt is a Marine veteran, a hero and everyone loves him, but he is hiding a secret he came back from the war with PTSD and he masks his pain in alcohol, drugs and women. Lacey makes him feel alive and helps him keep his sanity but with her pushing him away, he is drowning in his pain, can they get past their problems and find a way to be together? Wish for You is the fourth book in the Boys of the South series you don't have to read the other books first to know what's going on, but some of the other characters from those books make an appearance in this one, so it does help to read those to get some background info. I enjoyed reading this book, it was a bit of an emotional roller coaster for me and at times I was frustrated with the characters because they were hurting each other. Lacey had to have things a certain way, or she would have panic attacks; it was horrible, I felt terrible for her and I wanted to drop kick all the doctors who told her she would "grow out of it." She also frustrated me to no end sending mixed signals to Wyatt, I know why she believed it was best not to be with him but at the same time I thought it was cruel to mess with him the way she did. Poor Wyatt he was so messed up I wanted to give him a cuddle and make everything better, the things he did to forget about what happened were terrible but at the same time I can't blame him. A few times while reading the book I was a little bit taken back by the things that Wyatt said, I wasn't big on what he said during the first full on sex scene with Lacey, it did not float my boat. Other than some of the things Wyatt said and Lacey's back and forth, I liked this book and think it was a good addition to the Boys of the South Series.

But she’ll need a little help dealing with the rough crowd. Who better to assist her than the handsome co-owner of a thriving Irish pub? Of course, with so much work to do, there are bound to be a few late nights… Colin O’Leary’s father passed away before he could prove to him that he wasn’t a screw-up. Now he wants to show his brother he’s responsible enough to own a bar of his own—and Elizabeth may be able to help him. But when their professional aspirations clash, tempers—and passions—flare. Are they mature enough to mix business with pleasure—or will they have to choose between the two?

Review

****Kensington Books (eKensington) provided me with an ARC via NetGalley for my honest review****
Elizabeth has grown up competing against her brother, she wants to show her father that she is the one who should be running the family business and fixing his failing Chicago bar will do that. Colin helps run his family bar, who better to help her than him but with problems of his own things won't be easy as they think. The initial attraction they felt never goes away and the long hours they spend together makes it hard to keep things just professional, can they make things work or will everything implode both personally and professionally?  I really liked this book because no matter how old you are you never really grow out of your sibling rivalry and this book shows it. Elizabeth has always had to compete with her brother, this wasn't in the normal way either it's a full on war that their father not is aware of but he also encourages it and pushes them to do it. At first I thought Elizabeth was a bit over the top and an anal retentive control freak who just needed to get over herself and let things go, but then as the story unfolded and thing were revealed I was all for what she was doing. Colin was a pretty easy going guy, he had his own sibling rivalry thing going on but it was more on himself than anything else. Elizabeth and Colin where perfect for each other, with how laid back he was and uptight she was they balanced each other out. They had off the charts chemistry, I wanted their relationship to work out and the farther along in the book I got the more anxious I was becoming because I wanted them to be together. There are plenty of bumps in the road that keep things interesting and the ending was very surprising. Something to Prove was different and I can't wait to get my hands on Moira's book!

The O’Learys - What’s Next in the Series?
I have absolutely loved writing the O’Leary series. When I first started writing More Than This, it had not been my plan to write a series. I thought I was going to write about the 3 female friends that appear in that book. Somewhere along the way, though, I fell in love with Ryan O’Leary’s family. I love everything about the dynamics of that big family. As of right now, I have turned in the next O’Leary book, Moira’s story, and I am happy to say that Kensington has contracted the last 2 O’Leary books that haven’t been written yet. I am getting ready to start writing Liam’s story, which should release in January 2015 and then I’ll write and end the series with Maggie, the youngest O’Leary, which should release in July of 2015. Moira’s book will be released in July of this year and I’m really excited about it. Although I’ve loved all of the O’Leary books, I have to say that I think I had the most fun writing Moira’s. There’s something about her that is fun to connect with. She’s lovable and bubbly and talkative…she just kind of jumped onto the page. Jimmy O’Malley, on the other hand, wasn’t so cooperative. He grew up across the street from the O’Learys and he’s Liam’s friend. The O’Malleys are everything the O’Learys aren’t – they’re a messed up bunch. Moira and Jimmy are pushed together because of work, which suits Moira just fine, because she’s been in love with Jimmy since she was 10 years old. She thinks this is her chance. Jimmy disagrees. She’s Liam’s little sister, after all, and that’s how he wants to think of her. Silly man.
