Three Nights with a Rockstar

Three Nights with a Rock Star (Half-Life, #1)
 1/2
When Hailey crashes a Half-Life after party, she expects to find the bastard who knocked up her little sister. Instead she meets the sexy front-man who agrees to give her access to his crew if she gives him access to her body.
All Lock demands in return is three days of complete control over the Sunday School teacher. With a contract, because he’s been burned before. One misstep could send the band—and his tenuous sobriety—up in flames.
Hailey and Lock push each other’s limits… Against the penthouse window. Backstage. In the limo and on the elevator. But as the contract counts down, neither are ready for the party to end.

Review

**** Aspendawn Books, via NetGalley, provided me with a complimentary copy of this book for an honest review****
Hailey has always been the responsible one, the good girl. Raising and providing for her sister Chloe when their mother proved they didn't matter to her. Internally fighting to never resemble her, Hailey keeps herself tightly under wraps and never explores any desire she may find deep inside. All that changes when Chloe returns from traveling with the band Half- Life and confesses she's pregnant but the father isn't in a good place right now to be just that, a father. Hailey won't take that for an answer when both they both know what it's like to grow up with missing fathers. The problem is Chloe isn't giving up his name. With an inadequate plan Hailey decides to infiltrate the band and find the father herself. Going straight to the man in charge she heads to the hotel to find Lock. The scene that greets her proves she is way out of her league. However, among the passed out and plant fertilizing men she finds her redemption in a drop dead gorgeous man who thankfully, appears to be sober. As luck would have it he happens to be just the man she was looking for. What she wasn't planning on was finding herself in a contract to spend the next three days in his bed. So what happens when Hailey lets herself break free from her good girl shell and enjoy life? She just might be risking it all.
Three Nights with a Rockstar was a fast paced and sexy ride. There was adventure but nothing over the top outrageous to try to get the reader's attention, just honest good writing with great characters. It was almost like watching a really personal documentary or reading a biography, the world of rock & roll brought to life through the words on each page.
I was hoping for a good book but what I wasn't expecting is to get hooked on the main couple and a few supporting characters so quickly. Lock, Hailey, Krist, Chloe and a few others had me reading until the early morning hours, Lock specifically. Sure, this isn't my first tattooed sex & music god I've read but there was something about him that stayed with me. He was delicious yes, there of course is that. More so he carried a level of dominance and swagger but broke down his walls with Hailey and there was a deep connection in that vulnerability. A real person, not just everyone's persona of a fantasy. I was worried when I discovered how much of a good girl Hailey was. *Cue the look of horror thinking I was reading another blushing "virgin".* Thankfully once the cardigan came off she became a confident women who wasn't afraid to enjoy what she wanted. As excited as I am for Krist's book I'm almost sad that I can't selfishly have several books with the two of them.
I was actually a little surprised that TNwaR was written by two authors. The chapters flow so smoothly. It's descriptive but not excessive. Imaginative but not outrageous. Just the right mix to get lost in your fantasy but not get vertigo when you finish the last page.
This is a series that I will be marking release dates in my calendar and stalking the author's facebooks for!

Review
****Tika Lake Publishing, via NetGalley, provided me with a complimentary advanced read copy of this book for an honest review *
Darnell. A name that strikes respect among the 1% . Rose views it as a curse given to her by a man that's behind bars. Her brothers cherish it, wield it like another weapon in their arsenal. Then again, Rose never wanted to be part of the Anathema MC. With patched in officers as brothers, she can't leave it all behind soon enough. Even though she's not an active part of that life, it follows her everywhere. Her music. Her music is what gets her through the days and the heartbreak, what will hopefully pull her through the other side where all of it is a bad memory and she's doing what she loves. That is, until she makes a decision that unknowingly puts her on the radar of people who long to spill the blood connected with her last name. What's better to get their hands on than the innocent younger sister of two of the highest members? Thorne Radek, Anathema's president, won't let that happen. He also has ulterior motives for keeping the gorgeous her safe. He has a traitor in his club and he plans on using Rose to sniff them out. Even if it means betraying her own flesh and blood. She's about to find out the true price of safety.
Warlord is a book worth reading among the explosive MC group. I was sucked in automatically with Thorne and the Darnell family drama. Rose shows her young age at times but in general was a very relatable character that was easy to ride along with. Thorne was rough around the edges sexy with a toe curling growl and a side that only came out to play around Rose. You could easily see him making the transition from gutting his enemy to caring for her behind closed doors. There was nothing stereotypical romantic about him but they meshed perfectly once they got there. The writing was raw and seductive, delivered in a flowing formula that I loved reading. The side characters, family members, mc, and everything else around opened up a world I'd love to go back to. Lana Grayson is a promising new voice in an addictive genre.

Night Fever (Night Fever, #1)

Lola’s heart already belongs to Johnny, but for him, she’d sell the devil her soul. Unfortunately, the devil wants something else.

When he makes Lola Winters a proposition, she finds herself tempted into a seduction that will have her walking the line between comfort and humiliation, desire and resistance. He would own her—for one night. She would be his—for a price. It was wrong. It was scandalous. It was the opportunity of a lifetime.
Sex, music, neon on the Sunset Strip—right in the middle of it all, he would have her. Come sunrise, he would let her go. At least, that was the plan.
Night Fever is the first novella in the erotic romance Night Fever Serial. All three parts release November 2014. Reader discretion is advised due to mature themes intended for an 18+ audience. 51,000 words.

Review
****Jessica Hawkins, via NetGalley, provided me with a complimentary ARC of this book for my honest review****
Lola has always loved Johnny. Since he saved her from herself years before she's been happy watching him tend bar at Hey Joe while she serves drinks. Things aren't always easy, but they're happy and they both know dreams don't come true without work. All that comes crashing down when Beau Olivier comes into the bar. Lola can't deny the instant attractive, but she's not a cheater and she knows without a doubt that Johnny is her future. So why can't she seem to shake the pull she has to this man? When he offers them their dream, own Hey Joe in exchange for one night with Lola, she finds herself in a situation she never saw coming. One night is all she has to make it through, but one night may just be enough to destroy her.
There was something so addicting about this book that the minute I finished it I had to grab the next, and happened to get lucky it was just released. Lola is flawed but loyal. She has her past like everyone else, but she refuses to let it define her, with Johnny's help. Beau provides a crack in that armor that makes her reevaluate everything she thought she knew and wanted. The two are volatile, passionate, and irresistible together. The chemistry almost instant. Thoroughly developed, even in a short time, both characters crawl into the reader's mind and refuse to let go. They both have secrets that I feel we've just grazed the top of, I can't wait to see how it all ends! The writing flies by and you turn the last page before you realize it, begging for the next.

Review

****The author provided me with a copy of this book for my honest review****
Patricia has been cheated on and lost her job, the only man she has ever been able to trust was her deceased father. Jon is having his own professional set back while at the same time using his bed as a revolving door for any and all available women. Their paths collide, a few times and the sparks ignite. This was a pretty fast read, the pages of the book were filled with humor and some seriously steamy sex scenes. I liked Patricia, she seemed to be a strong woman and Jon, despite his being a man whore, was a likable character. I think I would have loved this book if it had more emotional depth to it. I didn't feel that gut wrenching pull when secrets where coming out, that may just have been me but I wanted to see more and get beyond the surface with the two of them. Other than that this was a good read, if your looking for a good smexy read this would be the book to pick up.

Bonds of Hope (Wicked Play #4)

Bonds of Hope (Wicked Play, #4)
3 of 5 stars false1/2

Review

****Carina Press through NetGalley provided me with a copy of this book for my honest review****
Bonds of Hope was a fun and sexy addition to the Wicked Play series. Just being introduced recently to the series, I've gotten to know the characters and enjoyed them. This is a great series for the lighter BDSM reader, the "glitter kink" fans if you will. For me I would have liked to see that part of things go a little more in depth, but it was still a lighter romance with some nice flogging thrown in. Marcus was delicious and kept things going for me where Quinn lacked. Quinn wasn't completely ignorable as a character but she was a little 2D, flat. Her constant stereotypes drove me up a wall, even after meeting Marcus and people in the lifestyle she was adamant about her impressions and opinions and I couldn't help but want to smack her. The hypocritical issues Quinn had with Marcus's job were a little extreme and they never really felt resolved which stuck with me, these two just didn't communicate and I think that gave the reader a bit of an issue. Eventually things turned around with a satisfying ending. All in all something worth picking up for the reader looking for HEA romance with a kinky twist.

Review

****SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca, via NetGalley provided me with a copy of this book for my honest review****
Claire Ryan is about to embark on a journey she never saw coming. After a hard break up from an unhealthy relationship she should have ended long ago, she decides to join the world one step at a time. Claire decides to start with a book club at a quaint local book store named Bibliophile.
Evan Lang is still in love with his wife who he lost to cancer, so he fills his days with the other love in his life, his book store. When he sees a woman who stirs long dead feelings he's angry with her and himself. To make mattes worse, he sees her quietly sneaking to read the store's erotica, embarrassed but aroused. An overheard conversation later he knows she's way more than he expected, and he's just the man to give her the awakening she needs. However, when his own demons come to surface he may have underestimated just how much he needs her in return.
Awakening was one of the more unique tales of a woman's journey into discovering her submission. Although the insta love was a disappointment, the heartbreak and struggle was inspirational .Palatable emotions and deep characters lead way to a nicely flowing storyline suitable for an array of readers. The sex was hot but didn't take away or make up the storyline. The depth of emotion between the characters and involved in the D/s relationship was accurate and led to a believable HEA. And of course I wish Bibliophile was a real book story because it made me want to curl up in the reading section in the back and enjoy.

Review

****The author provided me with a copy of this book for my honest review****
Tate is in his prime lots of woman and a promising future as an author. Piper is trying to stay far away from her roots; she needs to job now so she takes one knowing the boss is a bit of a bastard. She goes to celebrate with her friends, meets a gorgeous man and they have a little "meeting" in the bathroom. Both of them thought they wouldn't see each other again, but fate the tricky bitch kicks them both in the teeth and it turns out that Pipers' new job is being the assistant to the bathroom god aka Tate the jackass. The two of them try to keep their attraction at bay and put some distance between them, but is easier said than done and the two of them are about to find out it's impossible to forget that first kiss. The title of this book does not do justice to how hot it is That First Kiss sounds so sweet and cute. This book starts out red hot, then keeps you at a boil with sexual tension just when you’re about ready to strangle the people you get some good stuff, and then you’re boiling again. Tate can be the biggest doucheater on the planet and then he does something sweet, it's hard not to fall in love with the guy. Piper had to have the patience of a saint to deal with him, yes sometimes she acted like an adolescent but if I was her I would have done the same thing. This was a great hot sexy read, not something that you want to be reading in a room full of people or if you’re looking to relax. It will have you on edge with the characters emotional angst, it will also have you laughing and reaching for a fan and a cold glass of water. J.C. Valentine is being added to my list of automatics author to buy and must have my husband home to read.
