It’s not that Micayla Lange is afraid of the clinking she hears coming from the first floor of the empty McMansion she’s housesitting for her uncle Nicco. She’s a cop, after all. It’s just that finding out her boyfriend was cheating on her was enough drama for one night. Now she’s alone on New Year’s Eve, wearing flannel pajamas and wielding a Glock 22 as she zeroes in on the unmistakable source of the sound: Uncle Nicco’s private office.

Jason Davis steals things for a living, so unexpected developments are a natural part of the job. Getting caught red-handed by a hot, pigtail-sporting police officer in what is supposed to be a gangster’s deserted house is just one more twist in the game. Kind of like finding incriminating photos in Nicco Marino’s safe, only to discover the cop—and the security cameras—have gotten a real good look at his face.

Unfortunately for Mick, she also got a good look at the damned pictures. Her “uncle” might love her like family, but if he knows she’s seen evidence that implicates him in the murder of a city councilman, she doesn’t like her chances. Which is why she’s having a hard time reconciling her professional instincts with what she is rapidly concluding is an inescapable fact: She’s about to help a criminal get away with a suitcase full of stolen money. And she’s going with him.

Mick and Jason’s race for their lives hurtles them through the dangerous Michigan wilderness on speedboat and snowmobile. As their adventure heats up and their enemies close in, Mick is torn between her duty to the force and the combustible passion engulfing her and her unlikely partner in crime. She’ll have to turn Jason in sooner or later…if they survive. But will they ever get a second chance at love?

Micayla is a cop house sitting for her uncle when she hears noise coming from her uncle’s office. She goes to investigate and she sees a man in his safe she also sees pictures of her uncle killing a congressman. She helps the guy getaway and goes with him; they are chased by her uncle’s security. When they find out Mick is working with the guy, she becomes a threat and has to be killed. Jason is a thief, when he planned on stealing the money he didn’t know he was going to be getting pictures of a crime. Now he has to find out how to get away alive and keep Mick from arresting him. The heroine Mick is a cop, yet she doesn’t know her uncle is a criminal. I found it really hard to believe that she was supposed to be this super cop, but she was really clueless about a lot of things. Her instincts her bad and she trusted a lot of the wrong people. Jason was a criminal but he was upfront about it and he knew Mick was going to arrest him but he still helped her. His instincts were really good and he was smart and resourceful. The couple had a lot of chemistry and the book was fast paced and entertaining. I did like the book; I just wanted the heroine to be better than she really was.

Jessica is in a pseudo witness protection program, but she just won her first high profile case and is now all over the news. Her ex Mark is assigned to keep her safe, he still wants to be with her, and she wants to kill him. Jessica gets a spot on the legal team and she can’t get over how the victim of a rape recanted on the stand. She thinks the witness has been threatened and she can’t let it go. The woman who she replaced, who just up and married, has her worried to. Jessica gets attacked by her apartment and Mark saves her, now someone is trying to kill her and Jessica is having a hard time dealing with the fact that she still loves Mark. Once again someone is trying to kill her and she doesn’t know who or why. I liked Jessica in this book more than the last one, she has grown some teeth. She stills has some serious issues with her looks, but she seems surer of herself. Mark is the same as he was in the last book, except his stance on relationships has changed. I liked hearing how their relationship had broken apart then ultimately became stronger. I did like the mystery, but I was able to figure out who was behind it easier this time than last. I had a little bit of a problem with the added paranormal aspect to the book. The whole seeing a ghost just detracted from the story for me. Overall the book was really good; I would like to see one last book with Jessica and Mark in it.

When rookie lawyer Jessica Ford gets the call from her boss, John Davenport, the senior partner at the illustrious law firm for which she works, she can tell he is well on his way to being drunk. He needs Jess to meet First Lady Annette Cooper, for whom Davenport is a personal lawyer, at a Washington, D.C., hotel. Jess is thrilled: this high-profile assignment must mean that she's earned her boss's trust and she's on her way to bigger things. But unfortunately, bigger isn't always better.

Jess doesn't remember much --- only that in the course of the late-night meeting with Annette Cooper, she ended up in the backseat of a car, speeding off into the darkness. All Jess knows is that the car crashed en route, and the other three passengers were killed, including the First Lady. Badly injured, Jess is the only survivor of what is trumpeted around the world as a tragic accident.

Although she has no memory about the events leading up to the accident, Jess is still bothered by one question: Was it really an accident? The Secret Service agent on the case, Mark Ryan, gets the feeling that Jess is hiding something. As his suspicions grow, Jess's world starts falling apart. First, she is brutally attacked in the hospital, barely escaping with her life. Then her boss dies under questionable circumstances. In fact, everyone who might possibly know the details about the First Lady's last few hours starts turning up dead. And then Jess understands: If she remembers that night, she'll be dead too.

Terrified and certain that the First Lady's death was no accident, Jess has only Mark Ryan to turn to ..

Jessica is a new lawyer, her boss calls her drunk and because she is still a flunky she gets up in the middle of the night to track down the first lady. After she finds her and gets her in the car, somebody chases them and everyone but Jessica ends up dead in the car accident. While in the hospital someone tries to kill Jessica, a secret service agent Mark believes her and tries to keep her safe. When Marks car blows up when both of them were supposed to be in it, they find out that it is the Secret Service trying to kill them. Mark and Jessica have to find out what the first lady was running from, who is really trying to kill them and deal with their attraction to each other. Jessica is a normal woman; she works hard helps to support her mother and sister. She isn't outrageously beautiful; she wears glasses and isn’t stick skinny. Mark is a hot agent with an ex-wife and a teenage daughter, he has relationship issues. He is very good at his job, outside of his daughter that is the only thing that matters to him, until Jessica. Pursuit is a fast paced, what is going to happen next and who really did it book. The story line is actually believable, with just enough irrationality thrown in to keep things interesting. I loved how the relationship between Mark and Jessica developed; they are so different from each other. The mystery of who was trying to kill them kept me guessing right up to the end. I loved this book and can't wait to read the next one.
