1/2
A fallen boxer.
A woman with a broken dream.
A competition…
He even makes me forget my name. One night was all it took, and I forgot everything and anything except the sexy fighter in the ring who sets my mind ablaze and my body on fire with wanting…
Remington Tate is the strongest, most confusing man I’ve ever met in my life.
He’s the star of the dangerous underground fighting circuit, and I’m drawn to him as I’ve never been drawn to anything in my life. I forget who I am, what I want, with just one look from him. When he’s near, I need to remind myself that I am strong–but he is stronger. And now it’s my job to keep his body working like a perfect machine, his taut muscles primed and ready to break the bones of his next opponents . . .
But the one he’s most threatening to, now, is me.
I want him. I want him without fear. Without reservations.
If only I knew for sure what it is that he wants from me?

Review
****I received an arc of this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review ****
This isn't your typical girl meet boys story. Remington Tate is possessive, he's jealous, he's outrageously alpha and not afraid to go after what he wants. He's been kicked down by so many people in his life that he holds few in his heart. Kicked out of the professional ring, he's determined to make the best out of his position in the underground circuit where he's in line to be champion. It's during a fight that he spots her, Brooke Dumas. A girl who has had her hopes and dreams of becoming an Olympic sprinter dashed when she destroys her knee and has pursued a career in sports rehab. And of course all caught and critiqued on youtube. She's not a fan of violence, she's shy and wouldn't even be at the fight if not for her best friend dragging her out. That doesn't stop her from staring at the man in the ring. Handsome and sure of himself he has an aura that she's never felt or seen before, but when she's set up to meet at his hotel room she's surprised when she's offered a job instead of a hot night of steamy sex. With no real prospects in sight fresh out of school and the great things this chance can do for her career and reputation, she decides to take it. However, physical attraction isn't the hardest thing she has to fight when she's traveling with the group. Learning the real Remy that few get to see, Brooke finds she has to fight her feelings for a man who's more broken than she ever imagined, while Remy has to deal with emotions he's never had before in an already volatile mind.
Real was everything everyone's been raving all over Goodreads about. It's emotional and heartbreaking. Remy was way more complex than I ever gave him credit for in the beginning. I thought he was going to be a typical alpha showy character when in fact he had so many secrets that I never saw coming. Brooke is a strong character, not the kind that cowers easily and not afraid to go after what she wants. I loved that since Remy had a hard time expressing his emotions, Brooke and he developed the song choices where they would play songs for each other on their ipods while traveling. It added another layer to these characters and more emotion. I did get sick of hearing how "achy and swollen" Brooke was for Remy before he finally gave in and quit fighting their attraction. I can't wait for Mine, there is so much story left to tell!
