Dangerous Refuge 18+

Dangerous Refuge
4 of 5 stars false
On the surface beautiful, quiet Shaye has little in common with dark, dangerous Tanner have little in common. He's a suspicious big city cop come home to the historic Davis family ranch to settle his uncle's estate. She's working for an environmental conservancy that acquires and protects old ranches-and she wants to preserve the Davis homestead.
When the suspicious death of Tanner's uncle at his ranch throws the two opposites together, tempers flare and sparks fly. While they have trouble seeing eye to eye, Shaye and Tanner agree on one thing: they need to uncover the truth.
Combining their unique skills-Shaye's low-key approach and local connections and Tanner's experience as a homicide detective-the unlikely pair share long nights in the pursuit of justice. Before they know it, the friction they generate turns to heat, igniting a burning love neither ever expected to find.
They believe passion this intense cannot last. But when Shaye becomes a killer's target, Tanner realizes he'd give up anything to protect her-including his life.

Review

****I recieved a copy of this book for my honest review****
Shaye has paved her own way in life, escaping the society life that her mother had planned for her, she has made herself a place in small town Nevada working for environmental conservancy. She loves her job and is good at it,making friends with many of the long time farmers with her easy down to earth ways. She is in the middle of doing a deal on the Davis homestead when it seems tragedy strikes.
Tanner comes home to his family homestead under sad circumstances, his uncle has passed away. Being a big city cop he immediately sees that things aren't all what they seem and it seems that maybe foul play may have been at center of his uncles death.
After a shaky beginning Shaye and Tanner strike up a partnership to solve the mystery, but things become very dangerous and Tanner can't help his protective instincts kicking in. Especially when it comes to Shaye, as they work together and get to know each other the passion between the two builds.
Elizabeth Lowell is an amazing author. Her characters just bounce off the page, so vivid and real.
Dangerous Refuge is a wonderfully paced, well written, romantic suspense novel. If you enjoy your books to be full of mystery and great character interaction , then this is the book for you.
I fully enjoyed every minute I spent reading this book.
