Rajmund

 Rajmund (Vampires in America, #3)
4 of 5 stars false
RAJMUND GREGOR is a vampire . . . and the undisputed Master of New York City. He bows to no one but his Sire, Krystof, who is the Vampire Lord for the entire Northeastern U.S. Based in Buffalo, NY, Krystof is an old vampire—-too old, it would seem, because he’s slowly losing his mind. Summoned back to Buffalo by his Sire, Rajmund finds his master out of touch and rapidly weakening. He knows the territory will crumble if something isn’t done, and he’s the only one of Krystof’s children strong enough to seize power. But there’s also the matter of some missing women and a rogue vampire who seems to be moving in for the kill.
SARAH STRATTON has a secret, one she’s never shared with anyone–—at least not anyone who knows her now, not even her good friend Cyn. It’s a secret that could destroy her carefully constructed life, but it’s one she may have to share with a vampire, if she’s going to save the lives of the missing women.

****BelleBooks via NetGalley provided me with a complimentary copy of this book for my honest review****
Rajmund Gregor knows it's just a matter of time before he takes over and becomes vampire lord of the Northeast territory. Perfectly happy running Manhattan and the surrounding city it's a responsibility he never wanted, but knows there is no one else to succeed the wilting lord. Vampire Lord Krystof, his sire, calls him to handle an issue that has come up in Buffalo. Girls are missing, and the local police force seems to be pointing their fingers at the vampire population. Rajmund must get to the bottom of it and calm the masses before there is an even bigger problem at hand.
Sarah Stratton isn't the person everyone thinks she is, the safe relatively boring professor at a local university. Her dark past and secrets haunt her every night when she closes her eyes. She tried to share her secret and do good with it once upon a time, until her own parents didn't believe her and locked her up in an asylum. A new name and a fresh start haven't stopped the nightmares, or the girls who come to her in her dreams needing her help. When they start back up again, she knows she needs to do something before these die like the last ones. A night out when her best friend Cynthia Leighton visits with her vampire lover and Northwest vampire lord Raphael, puts her face to face with the tall and handsome vampire Rajmund. A man that haunts her daytime thoughts while the faceless terror haunts her nights.
When the two cross paths later one, both on the hunt for answers involving the missing girls, both are forced to confront what they feel for each other while racing the clock to save the latest victims.
D.B. Reynolds has done it again! Book three of The Vampires in America Series is as action packed and chemistry laden as the first 2. New characters and a new territory bring a fresh take to the world of vampires that go bump in the night that we've become so fond of. I was a little sad that Cyn and Raphael wouldn't be as prominent in this one, but it still held it's own. Sarah wasn't quite the take no prisoner woman Cyn is, and did get on my nerves at times, but she was a well written and complex character that complimented Rajmund well. And for Rajmund, while he's not our tall, dark and handsome vampire lord, he brings a power and charisma all his own. Both had in your face chemistry together, and history laced with trials and tribulations. The mystery of the missing girls was action packed and suspenseful, keeping you glued to the pages. A fantastic series that I will continue for as long as it is written!
