Afterburn

 3 of 5 stars false1/2
Crystal is an enlisted mechanic with a tragic past. Grant is an officer and a pilot with a broken heart. When faced with a difficult decision, will Crystal choose wisely or lose the best thing that ever happened to her? The love between them burns hot, but their relationship won't stay fueled if they can't beat the obstacles in their way. Besides breaking the fraternization rules, Grant and Crystal have the difference of race between them…but can they prove to the rest of the world, and to each other, that love is color blind? Afterburn is about overcoming one's past, not judging others, learning to forgive, and what it's like to be a woman in a "man's world".

Review

****This book was part of a blog tour I was given a copy for my honest review****
Crystal Morgan's love for aircrafts is in her blood. Growing up with a pilot father she knew her future was already decided for her. Years later she finds herself an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force and swearing off pilots. The loss of her father too much to handle.
Grant Masters is a pilot with a love of flying. If only his life on the ground could be like it was in the air. His senior year of high school still plagues him, the girl he loved burned him and finding out she was only dating him to prove that she could be a daring white girl not afraid to be dating a black man. After that he swore he wouldn't date another white woman again, no matter how tempting, but he had no idea what temptation had in store for him.
A call for a hydraulic leak finds them face to face and just where fate wants them.
This book was cute, a little campy at times, but the writing ran smooth and the characters well developed. The main flaw was my typical gripe with books less than 200 pages, it felt rushed, trying to develop plot characters and drama into 88 pages, but the author did a much better job then others.
