Elizabeth Reyes

About me? Well, I was born and raised and continue to live in sunny southern California. I'm married and have two wonderful teens. My love for writing began when I was just a kid though, I never really had any dreams or aspirations of doing it for a living. Then along came the age of eReaders and I saw an opportunity to get my writing out for the world to read without jumping through hoops and getting past the red tape of trying to get traditionally published. The Moreno Brothers series has literally changed my life. I now wake up to go to work a few yards from my bed. 5th Street is my second series with 2 out Noah and Gio and two more to come. I'm currently taking a break from 5th Street to work on my next series Fate a spinoff of The Moreno Brothers series. The first one in that series Fate (Vince and Rose's story from Making You Mine) is due out this year. I love hearing from my readers and try to always try to respond as soon as I can, but if there is a certain question being asked over and over instead of answering it 20 times I will post on my FAQ page so check there often! End of this year will be crazy for me between keeping up with the response to MYM and getting ready for my blog tour I'll be super busy so please bear with me if I'm not quick on responding to your messages/comments!
Elizabeth Reyes is a USA Today Best Selling Author.

Interview

1. This has nothing to do with writing but I saw on your bio you love deviled ham, what is that?
LOL It's minced and spiced ham. It's used like a spread on crackers. But (the one I buy anyway) comes in a small can and resembles cat food. Most people have the same reaction when they see it. "Eeuww!" But it's really quite tasty and makes for a quick meal or even finger food. My husband always makes a face when he sees me eating it yet he's always happy to take a cracker if I spread some on it for him. =D

2. What made you decide to write new adult?
I think it's one of the most exciting times in a persons life. It's the time in life when most people experience their first big everything. A story is a journey and I think when most people look back to the most exciting part of their life's journey it's that time in their lives. When they were trying to figure things out and finding themselves. That very special place between being a young adult and becoming a full fledged adult. For the record I didn't even realize I was writing New Adult. I just wrote my stories. Then I read more into what the genre entailed and thought, "Hey that's where most of my characters fall!"

3. When you have time off from your writing, who's books do you like to curl up with?
There are so many and sadly I don't get to read as often as I did once upon a time. But when I do I usually stick to authors writing in genre's similar to mine. Tammara Webber, Abbi Glines, Colleen Hoover, Jamie McGuire, Liz Reinhardt, J. A. Redmerski just to name a few but there are so many more I've enjoyed in the past when I had more time to read. Lori Foster has always been a favorite of mine as well.

4. Your favorite guilty pleasure?
I have several like watching movies that I've seen SO many times but never tire of them like Grease, Pretty in Pink, and Tombstone. One peek in my closet and you'll immediately know what my other two guilty pleasures are purses and fuzzy slippers. Since I live in my jammies most of the winter warm fuzzy pajamas is another.

5. In your 5th street series you write about boxing. Are you a sports fan or did you pick the sport for another reason?
My husbands family has always been big about getting together and watching the big bouts. So while I'm not a huge boxing fan I usually know the story behind each big fight. I thought boxers would make great sexy heroes and since I grew up around the East LA area I figured it was the perfect place for it to take place. Also true story my husband grew up on and his mom still lives on 5th Street. =D

6. What is your favorite song to sing when you do karaoke?
I haven't gone in a LONG time but usually it's old stuff. One of my favorites is Bobby McGee by Janis Joplin

7. As an author putting your work out there for others, do you find yourself looking on sites like goodreads & amazon to see what readers are saying?
No not really. I respect that everyone has their own opinion and the right to express it but I decided a while back reading the negative stuff does nothing for my writing mojo. So it's best to stay away and not read at all. Also with the amount of books I now have out I simply wouldn't have the time to keep up with all the reviews even if I wanted to. So while I do occasionally it's no where near as often as I did back when I had say one or two books out. If I did I'd never have time to write! lol

8. You mention knowing and respecting that everyone has their own opinion but are there any types of reviews that really grate you?
I'm not going to lie no matter how many books I put out all bad reviews will always sting. That's why I long ago stopped reading them. But when I did read them I guess the ones that really bugged me most for a different reason were the one star reviews I'd get from readers that claimed to be big fans of mine and loved ALL my other books except that particular one. I'd think, fair enough you can't win them all. Then I'd go look for the other reviews by them of my books and there were none. So it would really upset me because I'd think "Where's the love?" You loved all my books but only took the time to review the one you didn't like? And you're claiming to be a big fan? It just hurt I guess more than grate.

5th Street Series

But this group of friends stays out of trouble by staying in the gym-5th Street with aspirations of becoming the next big thing out of LA since DeLaHoya. But things get interesting and romances start to sizzle when they each meet their match outside the ring.
Veronica Cruz has been through hell and back. After disconnecting with the world two years ago to be at the side of her dying mother, she’s left alone, unemployed, overweight, and feeling a decade older than her twenty-eight years. When her best friend coaxes her into joining the local gym to ditch her depression and rejuvenate her life, she meets Noah. Assigned to help Veronica lose weight, Noah is everything she expected a young trainer to be—perfectly chiseled, supportive and motivating. Add to that, he’s incredibly sexy. He’s everything she’s ever looked for in a man. What she least expected was for him to fall for her, but he has. There's just one glaring problem: Noah is eight years younger. Noah Quintanilla has his eye on a boxing title—someday. Down for a few months with an injury, his maintenance-boy pay at 5th Street Gym won't cut it. He’s finally given the opportunity to train. The catch? His trainee is an out-of-shape woman with a free week pass. Taking on the challenge, Noah stumbles into one of the closest friendships he’s ever known, and before he knows it, he’s in love. But Veronica’s not having it—the age difference is too much. Their platonic relationship means having to watch her date other men—something that would make him crazy. Believing he's the man for her, Noah sets out to prove that age is but an illusion, and there's more to him than just a number.

When tragedy strikes in the ring, Giovanni Bravo falls into a deep depression, walking away from his dream of boxing to train instead. He agrees to a two month get-away, helping train Felix Sanchez, his high school best friend and now welterweight champ of the world. Once at Felix’s lavish boxing complex, he’s reunited with Bianca Rubio, someone he remembers only as the girl with the innocent doe eyes back in high school. Her refreshing, cheerful demeanor not only takes Gio’s mind off his troubled conscience, he finds himself falling for her fast and hard. The problem—Bianca is Felix’s girlfriend. Having a sexy, famous boyfriend has its perks, but they come with a price. Bianca not only has to deal with the ongoing tabloid rumors about her boyfriend hooking with other women, but also his constant absence when he is on the road. So now that Felix will be in town for two whole months to train for his next big bout, Bianca is thrilled. He’s even asked her to move into his cabin while he's there. But when he leaves for days at a time to promote his fight, Bianca spends time getting to know Felix’s gorgeous new trainer and good friend, Gio. Increasingly drawn to his sweet smile and smoldering green eyes, she finds herself saying and doing things she normally wouldn’t. As it becomes more and more difficult for each to resist the other, Gio crosses the line between them. He hopes that one kiss will alleviate the overwhelming temptation and clear both their systems, but it does just the opposite. Their temptation suddenly becomes an obsession--an obsession that quickly forces Gio to realize this is more than just lust. He's fallen hard and to his delight so has she. Now he's forced to make the hardest decision of his life. Risk losing his long time friend or walk away from the only girl he's ever loved.
